Hi everyone!!!
Sorry for not posting anything for such a long time. I know you all must have been eagerly waiting for my next creations. This year there will be a bit irregularity in the posts. But next year onwards, everything will be back to normal.
Let's have a look at my newest and latest creation: A Purse Cake! This was my first attempt to make a 3-D standing cake, let alone a purse cake. But i must say that it turned out very well, don't you think so too? Please let me know how you feel about this cake.
As it was my first attempt on making a purse cake,

I did  surf the net looking at various purse designs and then mixed them all up and came up with this. It took me a whole week to make the cake from scratch.

It is basically a dark chocolate cake with loads of chocolate in it, frosted with chocolate butter cream icing and then covered in white fondant. All the golden decorations and the straps on the side of the cake are made out of white gum paste. For the golden colour, I mixed Wilton's golden and yellow pearl dust and some lemon juice and brushed it on to the gum paste once it was dry. It had been quite humid when i made the cake so the gum paste was not drying up. A nice tip for such a problem is to place the gum paste decorations in the oven with only the light on, not the heat. Leave it in there for a day or two and they will completely dry up.
I used royal icing for attaching the decorations to the cake as well as for giving the cross-stitching effect on the sides of the handle.

Hope you all like it and the cake inspired you to try this out too!

Happy Baking!!!!!
